What it does today

Six languages, one switch

On the employee portal, the page for reporting without an account and kiosk tablets. The switcher is at the top of every page, and a half-written report stays as it is.

Arabic, right to left

The whole page turns to read right to left, arrows included. The logo and any Latin text stay as they are.

Spoken as well as typed

Dictation in all six languages. A spoken report with a recording in Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil and Gujarati.

An English version, when the browser can make one

Where the reporter's browser has a built-in translator on the device, the case team gets English next to the original. The original is always there.

Letters in six languages

Five kinds: the acknowledgement, a meeting invitation, a notice to the person named, the outcome and the POSH complaint copy. Each in any of the six languages, kept exactly as sent.

Kiosks and posters

Kiosk tablets work in all six languages and can read every prompt aloud. A4 posters come in each language, with English underneath.

The same card, in all six

The Speak up card from the employee home, as the product writes it in each language. Arabic reads right to left.

Where translation stops, said plainly

  • The case team, company admin and SpeakUpSafe screens are in English.
  • The English version is made in the reporter's browser, on the device, only where Chrome's built-in translator is there, and for Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Gujarati script. Arabic reports, and reports made without an account, reach the case team in the original language.
  • Replies are put into the reporter's language the same way: on the case team's device, in Chrome, when it can.
  • Company policies and their FAQ are in English, Hindi and Marathi. Saathi, the assistant, answers in English for now.
  • Native speakers are still reviewing the translations.
